Janurary 27, 2012 | The Tribune’s Top 20 Under 40
The Tribune’s annual Top 20 under 40 award honors San Luis Obispo County leaders under the age of 40 who excel in both their profession and community service. They were selected from more than 100 nominees by a panel of judges from the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation.
Among the winners, was our Founder and Executive Director of the SLO Noor Foundation
Dr. Ahmad Nooristani
Dr. Ahmad Nooristani, 36, is the founder and executive director of the SLO Noor Foundation. A hospitalist at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center and French Hospital Medical Center, he developed a clinic to offer free health care to those without insurance. “Dr. Nooristani saw many uninsured people coming through the ER system as their only form of health care,” said Whitney Gordon, who volunteers at the clinic.
Born in Afghanistan, Nooristani moved to Simi Valley at 14. He earned his degree in internal medicine from Ross University, based in New Jersey.
“It is my dream to provide health care around the globe to those in desperate need,” he said.
Nooristani also founded Medical Consultants Inc. and New Vision Tele-medicine, which offers off-site medical care for those without access to a doctor. His newest nonprofit venture, Healthy New World, aims to send doctors around the globe.
