New Equipment, New Hope: Noor’s OCT Machine

The smiling fellow on the right of the photo is our very own Dr. Rupert Chowins. He’s smiling because we completed an ambitious fundraising campaign to raise money to buy the pictured Topcon OCT machine. This new equipment allows for precise diagnostic capabilities as well as treatment of glaucoma, diabetes and many other serious eye issues. It’s like a CT or an MRI scanner for the eye.

Dr. Chowins recently had his first eye clinic with the new machine. He was able to treat a woman with a new pituitary tumor, another who was bleeding in her eye from diabetes, a man who had lost his circulation to both optic nerves, among others. The OCT is truly amazing and is a game changer for us!
