Meet Dr. Whitcher
Published: May 24, 2021
The SLO Noor Dental Clinic is fortunate to have had some pretty special people at it’s helm. The first, and the founder of the dental clinic, was popular local dentist Dr. Ron Barbieri. When Dr. Barbieri decided to step back and enjoy retirement, Dr. Bruce Whitcher agreed to take his place as dental director. Like most of our providers, the position is completely voluntary so the job requires an individual with a deep passion for Noor’s mission.
You may recognize Dr. Whitcher from his time at Central Coast Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In fact, he spent 33 years as an oral surgeon in Paso Robles and SLO! And he’s no stranger to volunteering. Over his career he’s provided dental care at sponsored free healthcare events all around the state.
On why he stepped up to become Noor’s new dental director, ” I agreed to replace Dr. Barbieri because I felt the organization has a core group of committed volunteers who would continue operating the dental clinic. The dental clinic is a very nice facility and deserves support so it can continue to provide patient care – care to patients who have no other alternative.”
One of Dr. Whitcher’s goals for the dental clinic is to recruit more volunteer providers. The dental clinic currently has a long patient waiting list. The only way to address this issue is to see more patients which requires more volunteer dentists. As things begin to open back up post-pandemic, we hope the recruiting process will blossom as well.
Join the SLO Noor medical, vision and administration teams in officially welcoming Dr. Bruce Whitcher!
